According to Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR),
initial and recurrent training is required every three years to anyone who designs, represents, modifies, repairs, marks, manufactures, prepares, reconditions, tests, and/or ships hazardous materials.
Failure to meet the Department of Transportation training requirements may result in civil and/or criminal penalties of up to $50,000 per violation.
Hazmat employee training may include the following:
- General Awareness / Familiarization Training
- Function-Specific Training
- Safety Training
- Security Awareness Training
- In-Depth Security Training
