TEN-E UN Testing Services... is authorized to certify the following hazardous material packaging designs:

Non-Bulk Packaging    
  • Combination Packaging - packaging consisting of one or more inner packagings secured in a non-bulk outer packaging. Examples include plastic bottles, metal cans, glass jars shipped in corrugated, wood or metal boxes.
  • Single Packaging - tight head metal or plastic drums, open head metal or plastic pails, plastic jerricans, paper or poly bags, fiber drums and barrels.
  • Composite Packaging - packaging such as a rotationally molded plastic liner placed inside a steel or plastic drum. Once assembled it is filled, stored, shipped and emptied as an integrated single unit.
 

Non-Bulk Packaging Definition:

  • A maximum capacity of 450 Liters (119 Gallons) or less as a receptacle for a liquid; or
  • A maximum net mass of 400 Kg (882 Lbs) or less and a maximum capacity of 450 Liters (119 Gallons) or less as a receptacle for a solid; or
  • A water capacity of 454 Kg (1,000 Lbs) or less as a receptacle for a gas.

 

Bulk Packaging  
  • Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) - a rigid (RIBC) or flexible (FIBC) packaging, other than a cylinder or portable tank constructed of metal, corrugated, plastic, composite, wood, woven polyproylene, etc.

Performance Tests  

Bulk Packaging Definition:

  • A packaging, other than a vessel or a barge, including a transport vehicle or freight container, in which hazardous materials are loaded with no intermediate form of containment.
  • A maximum capacity greater than 450 Liters (119 Gallons) as a receptacle for liquid; or
  • A maximum net mass greater than 400 Kg (882 Lbs) and a maximum capacity greater than 450 Liters (119 Gallons) as a receptacle for a solid; or
  • A water capacity greater than 454 Kg (1,000 Lbs) as a receptacle for a gas.

TEN-E Environmental Testing Services... is equipped with over 20 computer controlled environmental chambers for subjecting products and packages to temperature extremes in the range of -80ºC to 125ºC and high humidity conditions. Digital data loggers along with the Invensys Eurotherm Chessell System are used to monitor and record environmental conditions.
