ASTM International, (formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials) is now a worldwide organization. Originally founded in 1898 to address issues related to railroad construction, the organization is now dedicated to the standardization of a number of industry best practices.
Although membership and adherence to ASTM International best practices is voluntary, we at TEN-E Packaging Services believe ASTM testing standards to be beneficial. We’ve taken ASTM’s lead on this subject, incorporating the organization’s input in our own package testing. The result is a test process that ensures better packaging quality.
Packaging industry veterans know that when long, arduous shipping routes are part of the routine, there is no such thing as “gentle” vibration to your packaging. This is why TEN-E Packaging Services puts so much effort into setting up and perfecting test processes that can provide accurate shipping simulations.
TEN-E Packaging Services’ vibration package testing closely replicates the real world conditions your shipments are likely to encounter in transit. Our Ling A390 vibration system is our smallest simulator, built for vibration-testing loads up to 30 lbs. Load capacities of up to 6,000 lbs are tested on our L.A.B. 6000 and FT60 machines. The L.A.B. 6000 is a transportation simulator featuring a 96” x 72” bed with vertical linear and circular movement capabilities. The L.A.B. FT60 is a random vibration system offering a wide range of vibration testing sequences with a 60” x 60” surface.
These machines simulate over-the-road and air flight vibrations so we can get a realistic look at possible fatigue damage, content settling and disturbance as well as wear and tear on interior packing, closures, seals and other packaging components. What these simulations ultimately mean to you is better integrity in your packaging, which can save you immeasurable aggravation from product damage and loss, regulatory violations and other common issues.
Let us assure you that our vibration test processes meet or exceed ASTM testing standards and provide our customers with an accurate gauge of packaging durability.
